Our Journey Towards a Lighter Footprint

At Esska, we know that every business leaves a footprint, and we’ve taken our first important steps to understand and reduce ours.

Measuring Our Carbon Impact:

In May 2025, we began the process of calculating our approximate annual carbon footprint.
This was an essential starting point in our sustainability journey, helping us understand where our emissions come from and how we can begin to reduce them.
In May 2026 we repeated the process.
Our carbon was calculated under:

  • Scope 1 - Direct emissions
  • Scope 2 - Indirect energy emissions
  • Scope 3 - All other indirect emissions, such as supply chain and transport

You can learn more about scope 1, 2 and 3 here

Our First Steps:

Offset and Action

In May 2025 as part of a commitment to balancing our impact, we partnered with Switch2Zero to offset the CO₂ we calculated we had generated.

We also planted an initial 1,157 trees - these will create 1,157 tonnes of oxygen and capture more than 150 tonnes of carbon

We will review our footprint annually and offset accordingly — this is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time exercise.

Additionally, we changed our office and warehouse gas and electricity supplies to a renewable tariff, upgraded our warehouse lighting to energy efficient LED and changed our company car to a full electric version.

While we do not use plastics in our packaging, we felt it was important for us to remove plastics that may have been used elsewhere. As of 2026 we began to remove plastics with our partner, Switch2Zero.

We hold full certification for all our offsetting activity — transparency is really important to us.
You can see our impact on the Switch2Zero website here.

We Planted Trees

Between May 2025 and May 2026, we took our commitment a step further and planted 21,000 trees.
Each sapling will absorb an average of 2.5kg of CO₂ per year as it grows from years 1 -5.
The CO₂ absorption increases as the trees mature to approximately 10kg per year by year 10 and approximately 20kg per year by year 20.

Planting trees also contributes to reforestation that has benefits beyond carbon compensation.

We hope this a small action adds up to big change over time.

Why Do This?

We believe fashion and sustainability can, and must, coexist. Taking responsibility for our carbon footprint is not a marketing exercise; it's a natural extension of our values. By being honest about our impact and taking meaningful steps to reduce it, we aim to be part of the change we want to see in our industry.

This is just the beginning of our journey. We're continuing to learn, to do better, and to grow more consciously every day. Watch this space. You can see our impact here.
